Wears sandals, or flip flops (when not at the beach or pool)?

OMG! I just realized I’m prejudice!

I have no problem with a person’s race, sexual orientation, religion, choice of tractor, etc..., but I have a hard time respecting a man in public wearing flip flops.

Maybe it’s because I live in a northern climate?
The worst is when I see videos of people mowing, or running tractors and chainsaws with them on. I feel like those old geezers who yell at minorities to “pull your pants up and wear a belt!”

Is this wrong?
Should I enroll in a sensitivity class?

Ha!!! This is hilarious to me because just yesterday, I saw a post by IslandTractor, who lives in Hawaii, where he was on his tractor wearing flip flops, and thought, "Man, I wish I lived in a climate where I could tool around on the tractor in shorts and flip flops. That would be the life! (safety issues aside)".

Maybe it's a generational thing? (I'm not judging how old you are, I have no idea), but everyone wore flip flops when I was in college. I would wear them almost exclusively during the summer. It was a fad at the time. (Early 2000's)

I still love their convenience, but as I get older, my feet don't tolerate them. I mourn that.

I wanted one of my 20ish yo sons to help me with a little metal working project and his came over with his industrial grade OSHA mandated flip flops. I just told him to get out of here with this things.

I still have picture of my wife as a middle aged teenager on the farm mowing with a push mower while bare footed. It must be a generational thing.

I never could, nor tried much, wearing flip flops. Although I have some well made brand sandals or flip flops by I loose them more than they are on my feet. They are good for walking to the garage from the house to get something but that is about it. They are a struggle to keep on.

I am a 60 something sandal wearing tractor owner/operator. I wear them as slippers in the house and another for the beach and then there is the good pair for travelling and being south. However I don’t find them appropriate footwear for any occasion were safety, protection or traction are a concern for me.

No idea if regional (east coast here but way south of you) or generational or common sense (my claim and belief) to feel like you do about them. Can not be generational issue for have a friend older than me (he is 71 I think and I am 67) who wears them or some sandal but then he deals in the used car business some might be a mental thing. I think he does to prevent having to bend over to tie a shoe myself. He also has a tractor he uses with rfm for his yard that is about five acres. I grew up on small farm and often was barefooted and got tired of stuff between my toes and it was not all mud either. My women (wife, daughters and granddaughter) all like them and often I hear an ouch or ohee or such and even with my 17 year old grandson. I have often asked why you wear such and then complain about your hurt toes... Think the true answer is very simple...many who wear such are doing so for one reason....they want to show off their painted toes...or they wish their toes were painted...my belief and sticking to it.

Seriously they and any other open toe shoes are very dangerous in many situations even with out machines. My granddaughter took a hard fall the other day when the toe of her sandal got caught. She was showing me her scar which she will have for life. I wear full shoes for same reason I do long pants...I have enough scars don't need any more and don't care to share the ones I have...but some people love to share theirs and the tales of them.

I have worn sandals and shorts while welding. That can hurt so now I put my spats on over the sandals. Problem solved :D:D:D

One of my early childhood memories was an older kid wearing them while riding his bike (we used to call them "thongs", lol).

He crashed and ripped the nail entirely off of his big toe.

What do I think of a man's choice of footwear? On the scale of 1 to 10,it doesn't even move the needle so I have no feelings on it. Now when it come's to what other people take in their coffee,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I am like you in this regard. While I don't really care what people wear, I do think it silly to go ride your Harley in flip flops or sandals. Same for operating any machinery. Flip Flops are appropriate for going to the shower, lounging around the pool etc. but not for doing any kind of serious work, nor in my opinion for even going to the grocery store. So you best reserve a seat for me in your sensitivity class, because I am going to be right there with you. :) You know my age, and political disposition, so make your own case. :)
