When Mrs. Zoom isn't around, I use the dishwasher and clothes washer for cleaning things from the shop/building.

Works very well when you pick the right machine. My favorite is the dishwasher. Glasses/goggles, hand tools, beverage "koozies" (or whatever you call those foam insulator things), etc.

The clothes washer gets a lot of the outdoor kids toys.

Has anyone tried any baseball caps or western straw hats in a dishwasher? Does the brim hold up?

What things do you put in there? Besides power tools /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, what things have you washed that didn't come out the same?

BTW - If you put driveway sealer on a blacktop driveway, you'll obviously get the sealer on your pants. They go through the washer fine but DON'T put them in the dryer. Don't ask how I know...

You can wash a baseball cap in the dishwasher using this ball cap buddy .

Last joke I made about our "dishwasher" got me 3 free nights on the couch. And I got to be the dishwasher for a few days too.

No comment on that one.

I've washed many a hat in the washing machine. When we replaced the washer and dryer a few years ago, I kept the old washing machine. It lives in the back of my shop. Great for washing shop towels that are too greasey to go in the house for cleaning.

And now the oven.....................

About 25 years ago, I was still hooked on hot cars. (Fast ones, not stolen ones /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) I had a set of Mickey Thompson aluminum valve covers that were getting mighty nappy looking. I decided to paint them with "crinkle paint". The instructions said to clean the surface, spray the paint, then heat the painted object. Well, the Mrs. wasn't home, I was feeling "experimental" (or just 'mental) I painted the valve covers, then slid 'em in the oven for a quick "baking".

For the next 2 weeks, the house smelled like a paint shop.

Or at least that's what I STILL hear, 25 years later.

I've been instructed to STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
