What do you call this tool?

I am trying to find a tool that my FIL had many years ago. We used it to debark small pine trees to make posts. It was a blade about a foot long with 2 handles. It was shapped like this [
You would pull the knife over the wood to debark it.

Anyone know what it is called and where I might be able to get one?

They are called a spokeshave...but I don't know where they can be purchased new...I have an antique one myself.

They are also called a Draw Knife. Many rural hardware stores stock them. I haven't checked but I suspect TSC will have them also. Maybe Tool Crib (online).

My dad had several spokeshaves of the type you are looking for. I did a quick search on Ebay. only found 1 of the type you are looking for. Had to seach for spoke shave to find this one. Click Here

If memory serves me ( It usually fail's) The spoke shave is smaller than the draw knife, as it was designed, as the name implies for shaping wooden spokes for wagon wheels, so I believe you are looking for a draw knife.

You might be interested in the modern version. It's called a log peeler, and is basically a 4" joiner head on the end of a chainsaw bar. Available wherever Bandsaw Mills are sold. They work well.
