kOua is right on. I have a pin with spring clip. I just pull the clip and let the pin drop, then stick my tow/tie down chain in behind the holes and install the pin. I have to do it this way as the chain's hooks won't fit with the pin installed. I have to install the pin upside down, as there is no clearance for pin head on top. It's clear as Mud.
Or just hook your chain to the brush guard.:sneaky:
hugs, Brandi

Thank you for your input, that’s what I’m going to do! I have to install my pin upside down as well because I welded expanded metal on the brush guard and now there is no clearance from the top.

Other than using it to attach a cable or tow rope I cannot think of any other use for the setup. As already pointed out a pin and clip and your good to go.

You could always space it out by putting a block behind it and longer bolts then you can drop pin in correct way.... You do know spring clips fail and gravity works against you.....

I was happy to find out my RAM front tow hooks are plenty strong. Nothing more slippery than frozen farm ground with 1” of thawed mud on top.

Prefer a good front tie down point when trailer over going across the front axle.

That’s a great idea! I know they fail and every time I get out of the seat I catch myself glancing at the pin.
