I've run many machines too. Climbed out of holes, operated in muck, and been in bad spots. The best device to get you out of a sticky situation is between your ears. I've panicked in the past and made things much worse. Calmer heads helped me get it right.
I buried a Cat 320 to the house this past December. Knew I was going to do it, had no choice, and knew what I was going to do to get it out. Worst part was cleaning the tracks afterwards!
