Hello all,

Im looking to buy a good used Yanmar tractor soon. There seem to be soo000oo many models to choose from Im now VERY confused:laughing:. I think something in the 17 - 21 hp range is what I need. I have about 3 acres that I will use the tractor on. Mowing and pushing around some snow along with blading the driveway is what Ill use it for mostly. I want to be able to buy parts for this tractor when needed. Any help on a model of tractor would be great.

Thanks,
Henton

Hi Henton. I dont have the most knowledge in tractors as you will see from all my "newbie" questions, and I now own my first tractor at 38 yrs and the only other experience I have is memories of sitting on my Grandpa's fender while he ran the rows. I learned a bunch from the current thread labeled "The best Yanmar made?" and it enlightened me on a bunch of models, including mine. I am sure you will get more input than you can sift through but that thread is awesome and the reason that I love this website. Oh, and I love my YM1700...Cheers, Brandon

I agree on the YM2000, 24 engine hp, 20 pto hp. Probably best parts availability, since near identical to the built-for-US YM240, and there are a lot of them. Same as YM1700 except 3 more hp, and has a waterpump, where 1700 does not. If you can find it get a YM2000B, just a few more refinements, or if need 4wd, get YM2000D, better yet, Ym2000BD.

Well I don't even own a ym2000, but rather a 2002d. I love it but if I were shopping today it would be for a ym2000d. Having been a part of the Yanmar forums for a few months now the ym2000 is easily recognized as populous, powerful, proficient, parts easy. If I were to run across the ym240d I would take it at a heartbeat also.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Im kinda kickin around the YM 1700 2WD. Im glad one can get parts easily for them right? Also can I put a front blade with hydraulics on it? Ill do a little more lookin around on the net. By the way is there any dealer around Kansas with Yanmar tractors? Ive found some in Oklahoma but they are the Vietnam re-builds.

Thanks once again all,
Henton

Just wondering if RCO Tractor in Texas is a good company? They seem to have several tractors and are refurbished here in the USA. Also found Wright tractors down in Spencer Oklahoma, anyone know about these people?

GREAT site......LOTS of info. Spent last 2 hours reading old posts:laughing:.

Thanks all,
Henton

You will probably find 2-4 ym2000 to a ym1700, at least in my area. There just not as common.

Before finding a tractor from a private party, I had been in contact with R.C.O.
They treated me very well, went out of their way to help. There was no pressure at all, they seemed very confident in their product. I was in touch with Wayne from LMTC; the machine I bought was purchased there. Again, I was treated great, even though he knew I wasn't going to buy a tractor from him. I would recommend either one of these sellers with no reservations.

I really wanted a freshly gone-over machine....I settled for one with a little more use (and hours on the meter) onit because the price was more affordable to me.
