Hi All,

Over the summer I purchased a TC45. This is my first diesel tractor. What do I have to do for the winter months? The tractor will be used a little for some snow removal but that痴 it. It will stay outside.

Welcome to TBN and the Blue Forum :D! If you purchased your TC45 new and have low hours on it and/or if it was recently serviced and had all the filters and fluids replaced I would mainly worry about your quality of diesel fuel. I was ranting and raving here at TBN all last winter  because of ULSD fuel gelling up without additional additives. I would recommend Power Service (White Bottle) with a double load as recommended on the label. A lot of the TBN members report that the Howes additive is superior to PS as to preventing gelling. I have not yet used this product, but I do intend to if I have any problems this winter. So far my tractor has been able to start and run without difficulty with temperatures around 12 degrees F, but I use my engine block heater as well. Jay

I'm lucky, I haven't even had to use the glow plugs yet. We've gotten down in the high teens a couple of times when I had to use it and no problems at all starting. Mines a little bigger, a TD95D but still the same basic thing. I did fill up the fuel tank and put in some power service though. I don't have a block heater on it or anything but it's been doing fine so far.
Only thing I noticed was a couple weeks ago when we got some snow the windshield washer reservoir had partially frozen. I put some prestone deicer in it and all is fine now. At least it didn't break anything. I love the heater in this tractor. It will run you out pretty fast when it warms up.
Do check the antifreeze though with a good tester regardless of when or who checked it last. I only trust myself for that test. I've had to fix too many broken blocks before, thankfully none of them mine though.
