WHAT DID YOU DO TODAY ?

Tonight was an eventful night. The police left here about an hour ago.

A drunk man about my age came down in his car with his kids and wife. And he started yelling at my dad for no reason. My dad and I asked him to leave and told him we didn't want any trouble.

Then he went to punch my dad and my dad punched him first.

My dad broke the drunk guys Jaw. xd.

He then went after my dad again and pushed him to the ground. I then stepped in and pulled him off my dad. The guy then shoved me into my dad's truck's push bumper. He punched me on the left side of my face and now my jaw is a bit swollen but I'm okay.

But I punched him a few times too and broke his nose. So I got even. lol

He then went for a knife in his pocket but I was able to pull his hand out of his pocket and shoved him into the side of his car. Then he acted like he was gonna leave and then said that he was gonna kill us and went for something in his car "I assume a gun" I then grabbed him again and punched him.

He finally left.

He then called the cops as well when he got home and said he was bleeding and that we assaulted him. We had witnesses to the whole deal and they backed us up.

He's now in jail for 2 assault charges on me and my dad and drunk driving and endangering kids lives.

The cops didn't believe the drunk guy. And told the drunk guy we had a right to defend ourselves.

Chad

Yes, I would say eventful.

Just got back from visiting a friend in the Hospital who might not live to see tomorrow. Was rather unexpected and he went downhills fast.

Worked on grading out a couple spots on the driveway. Soil moisture was just right, so I couldn't miss a chance to do this. Checked the fence line on the high pasture. Used the new grapple and moved a couple more big rocks out of the high pasture. Mowed all the lawns - I mow often, then I don't have to rake. Sat on the front porch, drank ice tea, watched the sun set - stayed out on the porch until it got dark and too cold for shorts. A good day.

I have never taken the backhoe off my L3940 tractor since I got it new, so today I decided to give it a try. One pin comes out real easy, the other one doesn't. No matter how I try to take the pressure off the pin, it is tight. There is evidence that the pin was originally pounded in by the dealer when they put it on. I eventually got the stuck pin banged out, once past the outer pinhole, it came out easy. it appears the inner and outer holes, on the BH, do not line up well with each other. Once I got that pin out I greased it real well and put it back in. I still haven't taken the BH off.

Edit: Later the wife asked me to "plow" a small area to plant something tomorrow. So I go out with the backhoe and Plowed a space in no time. Don't know how long that would have taken if I didn't have the backhoe. also today I trimmed some trees, hauled the limbs to brush pile with pallet forks, put an old pallet on the forks to use as a platform to trim high trees (still don't have that pole saw I want), cut tops off locust tree that blew down a few weeks ago and pushed the tops into the woods, cut a nice post from the locust tree, pushed another dead fallen tree into the woods that was sticking out into my field. Also went and had lunch with an old friend that I started work with some 30 yrs ago.

We spent the day hacking through the cedar we didn't have mulched, with a machete and a parang, just to get a few paths started in the part we are leaving unmulched. Then I pushed over 5 dead oaks and gave Toni a lesson on the chainsaw and let her cut one up. It was too dang hot to be working that hard, we aren't geriatric yet but feel like it in the heat. :D

Bet that fresh cut cedar smells good.

After having Cedar Eaters mulch 5 acres of it, and being overwhelmed by it for so long, I don't even smell it any more. I did however smell and taste some thick pork that I smoked for dinner. It was tastey and hit the spot. Most of what we cut today was lower branches that were dead, hard as a rock and dry as a bone. The machete and parang will be replaced by a pole chainsaw. It was too much work to hack through it.

Redid some (simple) rigging on a wire antenna out back (130' off center fed dipole). Had used a lead weight, slingshot and spinning reel to get some paracord suspension lines run close to treetop level earlier this week. Today was setting a pulley at the roof ridge line belaying point for the antenna feed point (which gets suspended above the level of the adjacent roof line) mainly to keep line from rubbing on the shingle edge when the feed point is dropped and raised.

Before hanging the wire, 80m "kinda" worked with the vertical via the tuner but now I can work NC statewide nets as well as some nets in nearby states with no trouble.

Nick, I am assuming that is radio, short wave perhaps? It was mostly Greek to me, but it sounds like you were busy and it paid off.
