What did you do on or to your LS Tractor today?

ok so yesterday, I posted about changing the tines out on my tiller. Contacted the seller on ebay about the ones that were wrong, and he contacted me pretty quick that he'll send me the correct ones out right away.

went ahead and tilled the garden today. in doing so, here's what I did with my LS tractor today:

I used this tiller for 4 years with the old Ford tractor, but apparently this one sits a little farther away, and there wasn't enough overlap on the tubes. This is a solid tube, welded onto the yoke, so I'm not sure if I want to try buying a new tube and welding it, or just buying a whole new PTO shaft :(

You could possibly sleeve it and also lengthen it at the same time.

I did the same by adding a quick hitch which added four inchs to the length, I screwed that shaft up pretty good..

I do have a quick hitch, but I also had one on the old Ford tractor I've used the last 5 years. I should have checked it, the only other things I have with PTO shafts are both new, a bush hog and a limb chipper. I didn't check the length on them either, because they both went on easily enough. I will next time I use them though, which means I'll need to check the bush hog in the morning when I hook it up

yeah I talked to a guy at a shop that specializes in drive shafts. He said they do a lot of PTO shafts, and that he has short lengths of almost every size, and just bring it by and he'll fix it right up

Make sure it's still straight, I had to cut three inches below the break to get to the straight part of the shaft before I could slide another one in without it binding.. I'm sure he will check that just thought I would mention it..

ok that's a good idea, he said he only needed the end that was broken, he had everything he'd need to match it up. I may just take the other end off and take it too, just so he can check them both.

still has to be cheaper than a new one, this one has the slip clutch in it

Can't hurt to bring them both, when he is done he can slide them together then you know your good to go..

today I have my first paying job with my tractor. Lady has 6 acres she wants me to bush hog :D:D

I'm figuring 1 1/2 to 2 acres an hour, so between 3 and 4 hours, we'll see how close I am on that

ok got some awesome seat time today! first off, I did the bush hogging job. was closer to 6 1/2 acres, waist high grass. Took me 4 1/2 hours, so I wasn't far off. That includes stopping twice to clean the grill and screen, and once to tighten a bush hog pin back up. a couple of before and after pics, that only other tractor people can appreciate ;)

on my way home, I dropped off the busted tiller pto shaft, I can probably pick it up monday.

then, I stopped at my son in laws parents place and bush hogged another acre and a half, pulled some old fence posts, dug out a chunk of concrete in the middle of the field where an old building was years ago, and also dug out a stump. Probably 15-18 inches across at the top. When they cut it off several years ago, they left it about 3 ft tall so they could pull it out, just never got it done. It was one of those "hmmm, I wonder if I can...." kind of things, so low range, 3rd gear, 4WD, and about 4 pushes and a dig or two later and here it is:
