Well I bit the bullet and rented a Deere 550 for the Memorial Day weekend and to top it off took that Friday off as well. We have 38 acres in Central Texas and it was covered with cedars. In my quest to turn two areas of the property that were flat (one 10 acre and one 6 acre) into future hay fields. In talking to one of my neighbors who's dad had owned the land many, many years ago they used to cultivate it. My goal was to clear just those areas but..... with 16 machine hours to use was able to clear the entire 38 acres and level the road leading up to my property.

Some pictures of before and intermidiate (haven't taken the after pictures yet).

Before -

Intermediate - The second phote is "some" of the cut trees gathered waiting to be mulched. All in all from 38 acres of cuttings to about 2 acres of cut trees. I'm looking at least 200 hours of mulching:)

38 Acres would take less than 40 hrs with a decent machine. By decent I'm talking 425+ hp.

If I wasn't surgically removing the trees I could have done it quicker but I was trying to preserve as much forage as possible because I have my horses still grazing on it.

Cedars are trees here too.. sometimes 40 to 50 foot tall, with tree trunks and cedar wood in them, not some little ole bush... but hey they all start out little. It is kinda funny, I think down in Texas most consider the cedar to be an invasive plant..heck people up here plant them for ornamental trees and Christmas trees.

The larger cedars are what people around here call old growth. What I have are new growth. Yes they are invasive. If you don't keep them under control it doesn't take long for them to crowd out more desirable plants. In my case, hay.
