I am curious about horse farm...

I guess horse farmers have large pasture therefore have to manage large pasture.

and I think there are more works to do like moving manure etc.

Are there any specific characteristics for tractors to use in horse farm?

or, what do people have to consider when buying tractors for horse farm?

can you answer about this?

Thank you for your answers in advance

How many acres are we talking about, one? five? four hundred? How about barns? arenas? How many horses? I don't have horses, but much more info is needed before any body can help you.

Tractor with field mower for cutting down weeds in the pastures, Need front end loader for cleaning barnyard of manure and snow. Need post hole digger for maintaining secure fences. Rototiller for grooming exercize ring. Maybe generator to make sure you always have power for running water pump. If you have enough land, you can produce your own hay for feed. Best situation is to have boarders who pay you to keep their horses on your property. But, keep them away from your house. That means keep the barn, pens, and shelters on the far side of the property closer to the driveway.

What did I forget?

Hmm, I have horses and a farm, but not a horse farm.

I found that once the grounds had been established, fences up, grading done, re-seeded, riding areas designed and built....

...the tractor is relegated to maintenance only of the grass.... BUT...

the RTV is the most utilized vehicle by the family on the property. Hauling, dragging, riding, getting to and fro...etc. etc.

We have now 1 horse on our 20 acres, and a utility tractor. Pastures were in awful shape from prior owners (kept 7 horses on just 2 acres of pasture) so I have spent most of the year renovating pastures, with 100% improvement. Also plowed/disked 5 acres of weeds and have a new hayfield coming next spring. We use round bales and I move them/stack them with spear on FEL. Mowing is another big item, but you don't need a big tractor for that. We move some horse manure but not much since horse usually stays outside in pastures.

Tractors fit the operation...

The bigger the farm the bigger the tractors and the more of them you need...:D

You have to be able to move manure and spread manure...
You need to drag arenas
You need to drag pastures to breakup manure
or pull manure collectors to clean the patures
You need to be able to clear snow so clients can get to the barn and arena
If you do your own haying...then you need tractors for cutting, tedding, raking and baling...
You need to be able to maintain and build fencelines/gates
You need to maintain trails
And the list goes on and on...:D

A very small tractor can be useful too. I know people who muck out stalls with little BX sized tractors with FELS.

That would be nice. Our utility barely fits in the barn, no chance it will ever see inside of a stall unless I've accidentally driven through the front wall of the stall.

IMHO the two main questions for a horse farm are (1) round bales and (2) hay work. If doing neither, a small tractor is likely your best choice, as none of the other tasks require lots of brute force or PTO hp. If doing both, a utility is the practical minimum.

You can always use a tractor for driving hay up too....
