What bugs/diseases/critters have ya'll seen that weren't around 30-40 years ago?

Strangely we've been seeing some squirrels here, which is odd because there aren't any "real" trees, just a lot of scrub oak and brush. Also skunk, those are new around here within the last 5 or so years.

I suppose I should put up a game cam, at some point. I'm not really interested in seeing the dozens of deer that cross my lawn every day, grazing so frequently that they're not even afraid when I approach them anymore, but I would like to at least get an occasional image of the black bear that's been crapping in my yard.

I caught a coyote wandering through on my game cam once and many other critters, even a pileated wood pecker tearing at a stump in my yard once.

Did not catch the lone black bear that was wandering our neighborhood and knocked over our garbage cans. Neighbor did see it down the block.

But yes, mostly deer , lots of deer, even lots of bucks wandering through.

Officially, there are no bear in Indiana. Although some have reported seeing them. Seen a pic a husband and wife snapped of a bear they came across fishing a stream in the next county over earlier this summer. With the explosion of deer and turkey here, it's a matter of time before I think we start seeing them occasionally. I do get my fair share of bobcat in my woods along with deer, turkey, and coyote.

I have a young fox that shows up for treats. He's stand at the tree/brush line in my front yard until I put out his favorite--Crunchy peanut butter on wheat bread. He doesn't seem to care one way or the other about a few meat/fat scraps once in a while. That's the last thing he eats.

When I was growing up, the ONLY place you'd see a bald eagle is at the local zoos. Today they're everywhere. I see them when I'm sitting on my back deck.

And they seem less majestic when you see them shoulder deep in a roadkill oppusom...

I had a vixen show up for treats every spring... my chickens. One day I heard a ruckus from my meat birds and found that she was trying to get at them. I tracked her with my MarkII all along the treeline but didn't fire because I knew there were babies depending on her. Half an hour later went up to my field to find 2 dead hens and a paralized rooster. No good deed goes unpunished.
