The JD 4410 is 35 HP. It does have a mid-mount PTO. I can't believe the difference in price between a front and a mid - wow! I'll have to take a peak at the pronovost model, never heard of it. Anybody use Frontier?

You should check out the Pronovost line. I researched the different brands a few years back and there are several that seemed good. I ultimately went with Pronovost which is made up in Canada. I am extremely pleased with the unit. Good luck.<img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=357019"/>

I'll check them out. Thanks for the tip!

Pronovost Rear pull are really great, there are in a class by themself, but you would need 50hp (if i'm correct jd4410 35hp?) Pronovost are very well built, but the puma line is a non-commercial line. http://www.pronovost.qc.ca/pdf/Pronovost%20-%20Snowblowers.pdf Pronovost Inverted snowblower V 1 0 e - YouTube New Holland Pronovost lots of snow - YouTube What brand your local dealer would have?

We don't have a "local" dealer per say up here in NW MI where I am at. There are some JD and Kubota and MF dealers a bit of a drive. I'd have to check and see what they carry

not to hijack, but are snogo blowers any good? I'm looking at a 5' rear mounted later today. I see that nowadays they just make giant blowers for giant equipment.

OK Its time for a snowblower. I don't have anywhere else to push the snow... I was wondering what model you would recommend? I have a JD 4410. I am leaning towards a rear model because of cost, but a front sure would be easier on the neck! I'd also like any recommendations on features to look for. Thanks!

I just posted in another thread that I've owned a Lorenz for over 20 years and would recommend them. As far as features I added a hydraulic deflector on the hydraulic spout and it is really helpful in my situation, I won't own a blower without it now. Let's me blow in places I couldn't before with the bolted deflector, especially near buildings, really let's you put the snow where it needs to go. Sometimes you can keep the snow stream down out of the wind to keep from getting buried too! A really nice option if it's available.

The biggest part of the price difference is in the transmission for the mid/front mount. You hook up a drive shaft to your mid mount and then it goes through a center hanger bearing to the framework for the blower and through a transmission and on to the blower.
EdwardB, you are in the states. It won't co$t you as much. We Canadians always get the $haft.

Your 4410 has 35 engine (gross) HP. The blower ratings are based on PTO HP. IIRC, your 4410 has 28 or 29 PTO HP.
The Frontier blowers aren't built by Deere...just marketed by Deere. Again, IIRC, they are (or were) manufactured by Meteor.

BTW, a buddy of mine has a Deere brand front blower (his tractor, a 4310, and blower predate Deere marketing the Frontier brand). He wears a snowmobile suit when clearing snow since the snow being cast will (sooner or later) cover the tractor operator.

Up here in NW MI we don't need a snowblower to cover us in snow...that great big snowmaker called Lake Michigan does quite nicely!

The Canadians up in the Great White North make some real good snow blowers. Check out the AgroTrend, Lucknow and Meteor. All are great blowers for a reasonable price. The most important thing is to have the smallest gap from the tips of the blower paddles to the drum.

With the pull type blower, a rear blade, which is an option or you can make your own, will get right up to garage doors to eliminate any shoveling something a back up style blower cannot do.

My blower is a Smyth from an Ontario Canada company. I made my own rear blade.
