What brand 15ft. Rotary Cutter to purchase?

I am in the market for a 15ft. heavy duty rotary cutter (brush cutter) to cut heavy sprouts, etc. on my ranch in Oklahoma.

Could someone offer some advice as to what brand is best? Most rugged, less likely to break down, something NOT to buy?

Check out the Kodiak. I've got a 10' pull type and small pine trees 3 to 4" diameter didn't stand a chance with this unit. Kodiak has a 15'er you're looking for.

Thanks, I haven't heard of that brand name, but I will do some checking to see if they are available in Oklahoma. Since they are expensive, I'm sure going to do my research before I buy.

go with the bushhog batwing shredder an get the heavy duty cutter.with that you can cut brush 3in thick.the batwing will cost you $15,000 more or less.

i can send you info and specs but the Modern-Ag 15 footer is the way to go. it is heavy duty (7 gauge steel) plus it is galvanized. Big gearboxes and cuts great. 5 year gearbox warranty and 10 year rust warranty. Made in Beaumont Texas. Very rugged, no problems, a new one will run you $12,250

If you will ever need to resale BushHog would be the easiest, LandPride, JD, and Rhino make good units as well.

Woods 1800 is a real tough unit, the guys who farm our land own a couple and have not had any trouble with them. We own a Woods 10 DS1260 and have used it hard but have only had it two years.

Do you have the PTO Hp to drive it? At 5 hp / foot you will need 75 hp minimum. That means a big tractor with a 100 hp engine.

what makes you so sure that modern is a top- of the line shredder when all they are is a renamed mowhawk shredder.mowhawk had the same warranty on the gearboxes as modern.my mowhawk shredder is 15 yr old peice of junk.it shatter all the U joints just doing easy shredding not even running hard.had to put 3 new gearboxes on it at 2wks old or less because the dealer didnt check an service the gearboxes.now all i have is junk iron.i shouldve bought a 10ft brushhogg from the beginning.but my buddy would not come off $300 so i ended up buying a peice of junk.
