What are the maximum numbers of hours for a tractor to be considered new

My neighbour purchased a new Kubota and after a week the dealer delivered to his property a tractor with 12 hours on board already. John, my neighbour refused to received it and gave the final payment. The dealer said: he has 30 days to change his mind, after that, the deal is broke and down payment is gone, so what is the accepted number of hours to consider a tractor to be new?

thats one picky dude. You would be amazed at how many hours can go on a machine from moving it around at the dealer and such. I sure wouldnt complain.

Frankly, that is a few too many to have been racked up just by moving it around. It got some demo action, it would seem.

I've gotten two new tractors and neither had more than an hour on the meter. If he had known that ahead of time, would it have made a difference? Could this all have been avoided?

Agree with you, 12 hours for me will be a demo unit and ask for some extras.

My JD dzr had 11 hrs on the meter when I bought it. If those 11 hours had of been put on it anywhere other than the factory then the tracks would have shown it. I know that after replacing any sensor in the hydrostat I have to reprogram it which takes an hr or so. I imagine that a good portion of those hrs are from setting up the machine. Your friend might should rethink his position.

Wow dealer certainly could have avoided this by being upfront. But refusing the tractor seems a little harsh imo. Is it a compact tractor? I would think a 10 hour reduction for a cut is probably only a few hundred or so, could be wrong.

It's about a MX5100. Why the guy is upset, is because when he did the deal the tractor shown 2 hours and the bucket was clean. Now the bucket was repainted and screched, so......

I know I wouldn't be happy in that situation either.Obviously the dealer allowed somebody to use the tractor after he knew it was sold.I think that is just wrong on the dealer's part.As far as the bucket,it would have been originally powder coated which will last a lot longer than paint.The bucket will get scratched eventually but I would want to be the one putting the scratches on it if I bought a new machine.I am a firm believer that if I buy a new product I want it to be new when I get it.I would try to work with the dealer and see if he is willing to put a new bucket on the tractor.
