Circular interpolation not working on your manual mill????:laughing:

just having some fun, no insult intended.

Circular interpolation is the formula used by a CNC machine to calculate an enormous amount of two axis moves to create a perfect arc, radius or circle. All machinist's from time to time try this with a manual machine. It takes some concentration and luck not to climb mill and not break the cutter.

None taken. I've worked with CNC machinery for years, so it's actually kind of funny. ;)

I thought someone outside the trade may not understand the joke and think I'm being nasty.

When taking the drums off to access the seal and brakes, I have read here that there are at least four flat head screws holding the drum to the hub and they can be a real pain to get out. I'm guessing that they are screwdriver slots and not socket heads. They will require a lot of penetrating oil, heat and the old center punch trick to get them to turn. Hope it goes well.

which direction is your preference, G02 or G03 ?

I don't program myself but most everyone I know always climb cuts with the CNC. Tight ball screws elliminate the backlash so depending on whether cutting an inside dlameter or and outside diameter, dictates whether a G02 or a G03 is used. We should take this to the "Build it yourself forum", if needed for further discussion so we don't hijack this thread any further. add another variable and it depends on if its a right hand or left hand cutter.

I have heard stories of those screws. Will have to see how badly stuck mine are...

Better yet use a hammer on a breakaway tool: (Amazon.com: Lisle 29200 3/8" Hand Impact Tool Set: Automotive) to loosen them with much less effort. And/ or cut a second groove 90 degrees to the first to allow use of a Phillips type bit for better grip on the screw's head...
