I think I am going to buy a Kioti DK35. I am on a self imposed hiatus to make sure I am not making a mistake.

I admit to confusion when researching tractors because of the great number of choices available. It would be great to have a targeted list.

What are the direct competitors to the Kioti DK35?

If you were going by PTO horsepower than some direct competition would be the Kubota L3410, Massey Ferguson 1533, New Holland TC33

They stopped building 3410's 3 years ago. The current model is the 3430. I'd also throw the L3400 into the mix. The hydralic, loader and 3pt capacities are more inline with a DK. The Grand L-30 tractors are usually best in class for the given HP and really lack no creature comforts.

Branson 3820i. I have it's predecessor, the 3520. It was a toss up between the DK35 and the 3520. The 3520 was $1,000 less at the same dealer. Either way, you wouldn't go wrong.

Not sure why I typed that, of course I meant the L3430. And the L3430 is usually class leading, but the DK35 gives it a run for its money. The Kioti has more fuel capacity, pisition draft & mixed control standard, has better loader stats, single aux. valve standard, and weighs about 200lbs more. The Kubota has more hydraulic flow and slightly better lifting figures on the 3-point hitch. Both tractors are loaded out "high end" models. Base price (MSRP) on the Kubota is about $800.00 higher than the Kubota.

Not trying to start a war, just pointing out facts.

I'm not sure what tractor your looking at?

Kioti KL1450
lift at pins - 1350

Kubota LA723
lift at bucket center - 1587
lift at pins - 1870

The Kubota out lifts the Kioti by over 500lbs at the pins!
Even Kubota's economey (LA513) loader for that tractor has approx the same lift with more breakout force.

Guess you should have known which loader I was comparing...

On Kubota's website, they list the following specs for the LA513 FEL;

Lift Height: 96.5"
Lift capacity at pins: 1345lbs
Breakaway: 2160lbs
Max dump angle: 40 degrees
Max roll back angle: 30 degrees

Compared to the specs on the Kioti KL1450;

Lift height: 103.5"
Lift capacity at pins: 1350lbs
Breakaway: 2100lbs
Max dump angle: 65 degrees
Max roll back angle: 33 degrees

Plus the Kioti loader has a "speed dump" feature not found on the Kubotas. Even when comparing the LA723 the KL1450 has a higher reach, and much better dump angles.

All Kubota tractors have the "speed dump" position on the valve as well as float, lift and curl, lift and dump, etc.

Honestly, comparing to the LA513 is questionable. We probably use 10 LA723's to 1 LA513. The cost difference is only about $400 for about 30% more performance.

I have alot more issues with comparing a DK and GL30 tractor - transmissions for one. But these is no real point in having that discussion. There are dozens of tractors that could be thrown in the mix here, each offers different strengths and weaknesses. I think we can both agree on the fact that your choice of models should be limited by what good, established and reliable dealers are in your area.

Obviously there are no apple to apple comparisons here. I know the Kubota dealers in my area almost always equip. their 3130's and 3430's with the LA513 loader. I do agree though, if the price difference is $400.00 then the obvious choice would be the LA723.

Again, choose a reliable dealer and then choose the tractor and dealer you feel most comfortable with. I am sure me and Neil could go back and forth for days with comparing this and that and saying one is superior over the other but that would not help you in your situation. I think the list of tractors I gave you is a good start but obviously there are tons of tractors out there that can be considered "compariable."

The best way to compare is to put your hands on the steering wheel and your a$$ in the seat of each model you are considering and then put your money in the hands of the dealer you feel most comfortable with. Good luck.

Check the specs on a Mahindra 3510 tractor and you will some real competition for the DK35. Most of the others are lighter tractors and after all the weight of the tractor has as much to do with what the tractor will do as the HP. Maybe even more. Check out the Mahindra Brand, and you will find strong tractors and a strong company to back them up.
