What are Messick's Smoking

I always hear people say how great Rock Auto is. Maybe it’s because I’m looking at bigger items but I also found their shipping cost to be on the high side of absurd.

As I get older I agree the 5 gallon pails are a ***** until you get a gallon or two out.
I gave up and started drilling a small hole opposite the spout in the pale cover, just have to drill slow and grab the plastic shards. The glug can make a mess and even splash back into the face. Works OK if the oil is stored out of the weather.

Agree. RA was one of the companies I had in mind when I made my earlier post about shipping being a way of padding the bottom line. Dunno if this is still the case, but a few years ago it seemed that if you ordered multiple items, they always came from multiple warehouses, so you got dinged with double the shipping.
Not to say good deals can't be found there (especially items local parts stores don't keep in stock), and they're generally quick to ship but the end price isn't as low as it seems.

I order from them regularly, I don't find their shipping excessive. One tip is, put the mist important items in your cart, then look for the little tan shipping truck on the other items you want. That will indicate that they are coming from the same warehouse as an item that's already in your cart.

I can give some info here. Our shipping logic is a lot more sophisticated than other people who sell parts online. We honor every price our shopping cart gives, while many others will call you back and ask for more money because they quote wrong. Shipping 5 gallon pails is obviously expensive, and your addresses gets rural surcharges, and its a hazardous item. This is like worst case scenario. There is just no cheap way about it. We optimize our Fedex account for speed, not cost. Our default shipping is 2-day nationwide because in most cases people buy parts because machines are down and they are needed fast. We also don't hide shipping costs by marking up part prices. If things on the website just don't feel right, the solution is always to call in and see what alternatives the parts tech's have. They will do things on the phone like use USPS and stuff that we can't quote correctly on the website. Our goal is to be the best, have the most stuff in stock, have the best people, be wicked fast, and be competitive (but maybe not always the cheapest) on price.

Yea well I beg to differ, as my last purchase clearly reflects… I’d forgotten about that exchange, which I won’t post here, you can go read the email exchange between Paul and I… but all your gaslighting mentioned above isn’t what really takes place in my experience. I won’t go into details but you dropped the ball big time on the order shown below and cost me thousands in lost business waiting around for you to ship the hose that said was in stock and you waited around for K to shop to you and only AFTER I called and said “where the hell is my hose, my machines been down two weeks and I could have had one made locally had I known” did you reach out to Kubota and have them ship it to you…. And the real slap in the face…. You still charged me shipping….. disgusting…. Couldn’t even do a customer retention good faith for $15.00 after my decision to stick with you, cost me thousands.

Thanks for reminding me…. I’d forgotten about this event….. I won’t be adding any more to this discussion….. feel free to lock it mods I don’t want it turning into a Messicks complaint thread, that wasn’t my intention but I had to reply when I saw their BS post above.

A huge shout out/thank you to #40Fan on the Orange Tractor Talk forums for reminding me of the 2 37710’s needed…. I was “Jack n Coke” late night parts ordering combined with having a blond moment and hadn’t ordered, (thus the above additional order)… thank you again sir!!!! People like you that try to help are what make these forums helpful… (despite I’m sure fearing the usual female response of “I know what I’m doing” lol, thanks for taking a the risk 😉).

PS, while it does not appear that these 37710 crossed Baldwins have magnets, here is another option for people to save a couple bucks. Maybe we can swap the magnets from our Kubota ones, not sure, see below…

Fast forward to the 40 second mark in this video, also detailed in his description section.
