Hi guys

Am based in Penzance in the beautiful UK county of Cornwall and bought a Jinma 254 from the previous home owner. She's nine years old but has only done 100 hours! I have 8 acres to look after so have a topper and a front loader.
My first thread is; Intermittent Starting problem - sometimes starts,sometimes solenoid just clicks - cant paste a link 'cos it wont let me!
Really looking forward to sharing our tractor issues and successes!

From your description my first thought is an old or weak battery - try charging it. My second thought is poor or dirty connections. Clean the battery terminal posts, the clamps which connect too them, and check the cable ends for corrosion. Now check where the ground end of the wire connects to the frame. Make sure the connection is clean and secure - no paint or corrosion under the terminal. It is also possible the starter solenoid itself is burned or corroded inside. They get that way over time and the fix is replacement. Be sure your starter mounting bolts are tight as that is how the starter derives its ground.
