Hey guys,
As I am starting to get ready for winter, I want to see if I can get my snowblower working a little better than it did last year. I have a Westgo 5220 60" 3 point hitch blower. I am using it on a John Deere 2320.
Last year amongst other problems (which I wont go into details right now because I have them working better now) I was unable to get the blower to blow the snow very far (like 10-15' at most with the wind).

Snowblower specs.
- 60" width
- 18" Fan Diameter (3 Blade)
- The tolerances on the fan seem to be right around 1/4".

My questions are -
1. Does anyone have experience with that model snowblower?
2. Is there anything I can do to give it a little more throw?

see this thread= Plastic liner in snowblower impeller housing

then just search for others on lining snowblowers, another favorite is extending the paddles with rub ber or plastic to reduce clearance to greatly increase impellar efficiency.

My experience is with a different brand but they all work, basically, the same. 1) make sure you are running at recommended pto speeds 2) if your snow is wet & heavy it will not throw far. I always tried to clear my driveway when the snow was light & dry OR after the snow had frozen and was hard & chunky. Heavy, wet snow just does not blow well. Besides it tends to freeze on the impeller and in the chute area and plug thing. I've never tried or had to try the lining or paddle extenders.

Cool, thanks guys. I may try the liner. Sounds like a good theory. I am in the process of turning it into a 24 inch diameter fan housing. And I'm going to convert it to a four blade.

We'll see if it makes a difference.
