Was I good or bad? Hmmm...I think the message I got was -- overweight! I got a treadmill. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hey, I think there are some cookies left!

...well...you know...normal stuff. I got a toolbox, clothes, a hand knitted throw cover for my favorite chair, a wine rack, and a wonderful day full of love and Christmas cheer with a loving family. Guess which one I enjoyed most?

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too, Thomas.

I got clothes (necessary but just ok - lol), a couple good DVD's and WoW a Power Brad Nailer - Sucker will drive an 1 1/4" brad right to the hilt in solid red oak. Boy is this gonna be handy to speed up shelf construction in the new building.

Lots of love and companionship. My thoughts turn tonite to those who are ill or who have lost a beloved one this year. I have it made...

When I got my tractor I told Angie that would be my Christmas present. A few weeks ago my wife found that antique dining room table she had been looking for and told me that would be her Christmas present. We've been married 27 years so I knew there would be something under the tree on Christmas morning for me regardless of what we agreed on. So I went out and bought her something else. But what we both enjoyed the most this holiday season was being around our first grandchild (born in September).

Uhhh... the toolbox? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Sounds like you've got your values in perfect order, Jim. I had the same wonderful experience, with a couple of new shirts tossed in for good measure.

Well the best thing was for me to just watch the boys and listen to their surprise at the Santa gifts (they are 3 and 6 years old). Nothing like small children at Christmas. It was also great to just have a loving family around and feel lucky that I have them. As far as goodies for me: a bench grinder, air grease gun, clothes, gift certificates and stink water. Oh I did get a John Deere coffee mug from my mother. Guess she knows what 2 things I always enjoy.

Right you are, Harv. I read your post about your daughter's experience on the NORAD site and it's a wonderful story about the innocent perspective of children and how they struggle to continue to believe. I'm glad you had such a wonderful day and I wish you many more.

The best part was watching my 9yr old daughter. She used her own money and bought her own gifts for her sister, cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents and us as well. She did it all on her own at school and was just smiling ear to ear as she gave each person the gift that she picked out and bought all by herself. And the reasons she gave for the gifts that she bought were amazing. She really put alot of thought into each one. It is great to see a child thinking of others on Christmas day. And that's what it's all about, right?

I got a new Radio Control airplane kit early which I built, flew and crashed all before Christmas day. General opinion of spectators was radio intereference.....Totalled!/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Now I'm building a second kit of the same plane which my wife told me to get....very understanding and sympathetic wife I have./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But the absolute best thing I got for Christmas is getting to watch my 3 and 7 year olds get excited on the days leading up to the big day. Besides, they're getting to the age where I like playing with their toys as much as I do my own. By the way, does anyone remember Amazing Elastic Bubble Plastic? Great Fun!!

Jeff

Merry Christmas!!!!

Bird had recently posted a thread on Angels… I believe in them…

I truly believe in my heart and soul… that all of our children, God uses as real live walking and talking Angels… and they seem to shine extra bright around the holidays…

uhmmm .... let me see .... 4 pairs of socks, pyjamas, a short and tie (that I vaguely remember shopping for a month or so ago but never noticed that they hadn't yet found my closet), and a very nice card .... my wife puts great stock in cards.
My wife's problem is that her husband is used to buying what he wants, when he wants and this leaves very little to put on a Christmas wish list.
Fortunately ... I much prefer giving to receiviong and she made her usual jewelry haul this year (between her birthday the week before Christmas and then yesterday ....)

too bad that common sense ain't

Any age limit on what defines a " kid " ?

Well... I was thinking of the Santa-believer set, but in broader terms, no, there is no age limit on childhood. Heck, I hear there's even web sites where grown men (and women) do nothing but chat about their toys. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have fond memories of the "magical" period of my own childhood, so I'm doing everything I possibly can to perpetuate that same period for my young'uns. You only get it once, and when it's gone, it's gone. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Same age as my daughter, and I know exactly what you mean. She is so non-materialistic that I wonder how she could be my daughter. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif This year she made presents for Mommy, Daddy and even Little Brother. The smile she had when she opened the presents Santa gave her was nothing compared to the one she wore when we opened the gifts she made for us. String art, short stories (she loves to write stories) and a couple of things I'm not sure what they are (please don't tell her), and they are my brand new favorite things. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I would rather give than to receive... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I treat myself to "presents" all year long and so does my wife. I try to reserve a surprise gift for Christmas. Now for the kids, that is the special time to give them the unexpected. Nothing extravegant, something special. Also, get together with friends and family, especially those that you haven't seen for awhile, that's what's important.

And as far as all of the hoopla and hype, the lights and trying to out do everyone else, I don't get into all of that. I prefer the simple decorations to highlight the season.
