Hijacking my own thread, but is it really a hijack when the O.P. does it?

Went to my local Wallymart yesterday to do some groc. shopping with the wife. I did a high-speed fly-by of the ammo department. Usually they don't have much, but guess what. 1k rounds of Federal 55gr FMJ in .223. Needless to say, I lightened the load on them quite a bit. At $39.97 a box of (100), it's about the best deal going right now, for high quality ammo.

Prices have risen some much on online 5.56/.223 ammo, even gov't surplus, it's pitiful. 6 months ago I would have told you to buy it online, but now, hit Walmart...they haven't gone up yet this year.

I also saw some CCI Blazer Brass .40 caliber/180gr FMJ's for $12.47 a box (50 rounds), before tax. That's CHEAP! I bought all they had left. I am a member of "The Sportsman's Guide" and even there, with my membership, those same rounds will cost me:

I hadn't been in gun stores or shopped for ammo in a long time, just recently went to our local gun shop and almost fell over when I saw the price of ammo these days.
I may take a trip to walmart myself today to see if they have that same deal here.

Yup, they had the same deal here, picked up 2 boxes.
Almost got a sweetheart deal, 400 rds for the price of one box, they were packed 4 100 rd boxes to a case and the inexperienced clerk was trying to scan the whole unopened case at 39.97 which was what was written on the cardboard case. the dept head came over and blew that gift for me
