Excuse me for posting in your forum, but nobody in the JD owners group seems to care about the sentimental part of tractor ownership like the Kubota folks do. QUESTION:

If you can't actually use your tractor for weather related or some other reason, do you spend more time on TBN, and if so, does that "compensate" for losing seat time.

For me, the answers are a big YES to the time spent on TBN and a "maybe" to the seat time issue. Just my opinion.

Well, for me JDgreen227 it does. If I can't have seat time, reading what others are doing with their units helps.

And almost every time I'm on this site, I learn something. Be it a tip or an idea or some humor or what NOT to do, it's an educational thing for me.

I also print off a few pics that people have posted if I think it's an idea that I can benefit from.

And for me, Green people are always welcome here. Just cuz they don't have the right color machine (grin) doesn't mean they don't have good stuff to contribute! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Put a little fuel stabilizer in your tank so your diesel fuel stays fresh when it's sitting. Cheap to buy, keeps your fuel system in good shape!

That's odd...Since John Deere is is such an integral part of Americana...And you can't swing a cat without hitting a "sentimental" type portrait of a JD in a farm scene.

I love my Kubota, but it sure doesn't scream sentimental.

Oh yeah, I installed a meter pole adjacent to the barn on Tuesday. No need for tractor work. But, I fired her up anyway and did the perimeter patrol to lube things up...wish I had run the PTO also...next time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"Excuse me for posting in your forum, but ..."

Hey, we're all brothers/sisters under the paint!

A while back I was out pushing some tree tops into a pile with my Orange machine. A fellow drove by on a Green tractor with bush hog attached, and gave me a friendly wave. A few days later a couple of big Red tractors went by real fast pulling about a dozen big round bales each. I wasn't out on the tractor that time, but I sure gave them a long and respectful gaze for all the power they represented.

Tracterz is tracterz...

jdgreen227, for me TBN is a place to ask questions, to learn, to share, and is a shining example of what the Internet was originally intended to be.

I was thinking of Ron's post this afternoon as I walked the farm road out past the barn. It was cloudy and raw and I thought I'd fire up the 'bota and grab a ferw minutes of seat time. Then, I thought I'd run her over the ice that was still on my driveway in patches. The chains did a great job of chewing up the ice. Next, I used the rearblade to push back some of the icy chunks that were along the side of the drive. An hour later I put her back in the barn, having gotten some quality seat time and having accomplished something to boot.

Thanks, Ron! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ahh.. New Years Day and no work.. Got up early went out and fired up the 2410 and headed out back.. Clearing an acre for a food plot.. Managed to push over several old locust stumps and cleared out some of the green briers and multi-flora roses.. Got about an hour of seat time. It was a great way to start out the New Year! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
