Per that 1998 was a very hot YEAR. World averagte temperature is not based on ONE YEAR's data, it is the AVERAGE of the past 20 years. Now match that 1998 hottest YEAR with what the world AVERAGE temperature was in 1998. It ain't agonna be the temperature reached in 1998.
