Welding on a hammer

Just use a 7018 or 10018 Low hydrogen rod to weld it with and it should hold. Avoid welding to the hammer face if possible so you don't damage the hardened face. If you must weld at the face, preheat the hammer face to at least 400F before welding.

Thanks. I don't buy much from HF anymore. I used to but with tools you get what you pay for most of the time. I know a hammer is a pretty basic thing but I have broke several HF ones in the past mostly issues with the head coming off. I like the estwing all steel design.

Fair enough, but you can get a Kobalt 3lb hammer for $15. I have that and a 4lb one that has handled quite a bit of abuse.
