Weird Smell

Whenever I operate my backhoe on my L35 I always notice and unusual smell that comes to my nose. Does anyone know what it is?

Since everything's sealed you shouldn't smell anything unless there's a problem, but sometimes I "think" I'm smelling something on my L35. However on the BX it has a definite smell. I assume it's paint or something not necessarily burning but changing somehow. The only time I've smelled this before is when I've had a hydraulic leak on my Ford 1710. The BX smells exactly like that, but no fluid or seepage can be found anywhere. Okay everybody...start your tractors...now SNIFF and let Kubota Monkey and me in on the secret!

I've also got a section of the property that must have once been a pond bottom, when you dig up any wood debris it really STINKS.

The loaner tractor that I have from the dealer has a weird smell as well. My L3750 doesn't have it or maybe the cab hides it if it does have it. The loaner is a B20 and I'll be darned if I can place the smell or relate the smell to anything. I thought it was just me./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Kubota-Monkey, I also have a L35 and sometimes smell a weird smell like burning hydraulic oil. Everytime I notice that smell I look around and think I have a bursted a hydraulic line. To this day, I can not determine where the smell is coming from or what it is.

I can smell the oil from the beather tube comming off the engine. When I change the oil for a fresh batch of Rotella I can really smell it for a while. I think that they have changed Rotella because the last oil change didn't smell the same.
