Weird news about birds and crops (and bananas)

There is a email news letter called "This is true" which has a funny item this week about permission to shoot birds that are eating your crops only after employing "Frightening techniques" to give the birds a chance.

To be fair, I should post a link to the competitor of "This is True" called "News of the Wierd" which can be found here . In general, I like news of the wierd more, but I don't get the pay versions of either. I'm too cheap.

If you are a farmer watching a flock of migrating geese or ducks descend on your swathed fields it ain't weird; just plain costly. Many use propane cannons to scare the birds away. In Alberta one may be able to get permission to shoot.
