Ok, I am a bit confused, some days it doesn't take much! I looked up a CAT D3 on a few websites and it lists the weight as "30820.7lb" or "20639.68 lb" depending on the site. But here I have found other threads saying its more in the 10k range and they tow them behind their 350(0) series trucks. I understand year, equipment, options, liquids, tracks, ripper, etc would all change the weight, but I find it hard to believe that the numbers could be triple what others post.

I have no need to move it, so putting on a trailer and taking it to a scale is not an option, besides, how big of a trailer would I even need in the first place...

Per Cat's web site a new D3 w/dozer and rops, will weigh 21K. Per Ritchie Brothers Auction, an older D3B, will weigh 15k.

On Ritchie's I found the 30k# number. Mine is a 1979 D3 but I have no idea if there is another letter after the 3.

I saw that page too, that has got to be a typo.
