Kubota MX5100
This whole being laid off kinda sucks as I am running out of stuff to do around the house.

So I figured I'd share some pics of sundays take.

I would normally be towing one of the trailers with my kubota but we cut wood at the old mans place and I have my tractor here at home doing some mowing. So i towed it with my pick-up.

Actually I don't even burn wood.

Dad and I cut together, he burns his half, I sell my half.

Not much money in it when you figure all the time and equipment, I just enjoy doing it.

What brand of Chain Saws are you using, we are looking around for a new one. I've got a 16 inch homelite but it's getting old and cranky.

Thanks for the info.

I have a Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20" bar. It's a completely different animal compared to the Homelite Super 2 16" bar that I had before it!! A much better and stronger saw!!! Of course it cost more too!!!!!!!!

Dolmar 7900's are the two new saws. Others pictured are a Dolmar 120si, Husky 266se and a husky 136.

The 7900's are a big saw. 79cc's and they are a pro grade saw. Best power to weight ratio in its class and and when compared to stihl ms460 and husky 372xp, they are a lot cheaper and will out cut them as well.

I would reccomend anyone looking for a saw to do some reading on arboristsite.com.

Arboristsite is to chainsaws and firewood as tbn is to tractors.

I got that one for my name day - love it to pieces. It cuts like there is no tomorrow.

Dolmar has been around for a lot of years.(since like the 1920's or 30's i think) They are made in germany and used to be called sachs-dolmar. They also make the saws for makita.

They are right up there with the pro huskys and the pro stihls. (Not the tsc home owner huskys but the xp's)

The only negative of the saws is dealers. There just aren't many of them but they are becoming more and more popular. And the only place to buy online is ebay as dolmar doesn't allow any online dealers.

There most popular two saws right now(according to arboristsite) are the PS-5100 51cc 3.9HP and about $400 and the ps-7900 79cc 6.3HP and about $750.

Good Mornin Thumper,
I have two Stihls, the 025 and the 029 Farm Boss. They are great saws IMHO ! :)

You got it. We're about 10 minutes from Fackler's. I've known him for a long time. Glad to know there another active TBN member so close!

As far as saws, I have a 16", 42 cc Huskie that was my primary saw for the last few years. Last summer I bought a 20", 59cc Stihl. Now I use the Huskie for limbing and the Stihl for the big stuff. Both saws are great.

Not sure about you guys, but I've always liked to have a back up saw in case one get pinched. You can shut down the job pretty quickly if you pinch your saw and don't have any way of getting it out.:)

Being only 10 minutes from fracklers why aren't you driving a kubota?

Fracklers is about 45min for me but I'm only 20 min west of Mt vernon and they are builing a new Fracklers there right by shearers so that makes it convient.

Do you know where Franks tool and Saw is on the east side of Newark. That is where I bought my Dolmar about 4-years ago. I go to Wiford now for service since they just started carrying dolmars last year.

Mt Vernon is turning ino a decient town now. It used to be just Stihls and John Deeres and Now they're getting Kubota and Dolmars. Life is good:D

I also have Dalgarn's, which is a John Deere/Mahindra dealer, within 10 minutes. I quoted Kubota, Mahindra, New Holland, JD, and Montana. My final decision came down to Kubota and Mahindra and the Mahindra had some things that were standard that Kubota had as options. Mahindra also had better financing at the time.

I know where Franks is. I also know where Wiford is. I went to college in Mount Vernon...best 9 years of my life. :D
