Is she opposed to the spraying part (afraid of drift getting to garden) or use of chemicals altogether? If it is the spraying part, my brother gave me wand kind of applicator years ago that allows you to dip the applicator and then use it to touch the weeds, no spray. If she is against chemicals altogether, then we have had success with newspaper covered with grass clippings.

Roundup is safer & better than a homebrew. It's been tested for safety & effectiveness and the weeds it will kill are listed on the label along with all the precautions. Homebrew? You don't really know what the chemical reactions of the combo will be and you don't know what you will get.

Exactly. I cringe when people start talking homebrews. Besides most will only kill the leaf and the stem and roots just grow right back. Spray them onetime with Ortho Ground Clear and you are done for the year.

Catch your wife gone and spray them then plead ignorance.
