web MSRP comparied to dealer

When I was looking to buy a couple of years ago I went on the Kubota website "build your own" to get an idea. Then I emailed a local dealer with what I was looking for and asked for a quote. The dealer was about $1500 lower thasan the website.
That concept can go along with a lot of products. My niece was asking me for recommendations on a point and shoot type camera and gave me a price range she was willing to spend. In doing my research I went to the manufacturer's web store and they wanted $429 for the model I was looking at and it was just the camera and basic necessities. At Best Buy, Amazon, and other places it was regularly getting sold for $359 and came with an accessory package on top of the necessity stuff that came in the box.

I think that our society has taught us you don't have to pay "list" or MSRP for products - cars, Electronics, etc.

As I've been looking at Kioti and Mahindra, I see a minimum of a 10% markup. And if they're willing to go there, that tells me that there is additional room that they're making dealer profit (which is understandable/acceptable). My wife gets embarrassed when we shop for cars or anything else. My goal is to get the best deal I can, and I feel they can always say no, but I will *always* ask for lower.
