I noticed the other day my 2520 can barely make it up a hill that my 23hp gear drive had no problem with. It's a little better going up in reverse. Is this normal for a hydroststic trans. to have problems going up steep inclines?

Were you in High Range?
Also note that the hydro pedal is not like the gas pedal in your car, just because you push it further does not necessarily mean you will go faster under load. Try letting up on the pedal a little and see if that helps some.

Also what RPM were you running at? Even on flat ground my 2520 creeps along at the lowest setting. If I had hills I'd check them out for you...

This is with high RPM, low gear. I talked to the service manager where I bought the 2520. They have had one other machine with a similar problem. They need to test the hyd output of the transmission and then either fix it or replace the whole trans. unit.

Check your 3 point hitch lift lever, if it is all the way up it will labor the engine. Go all the way up then back it off an inch, you'll hear the engine quit laboring.

I would also check to see if the brakes are dragging. If you jack up the rear wheel and put range lever in neutral, you should be able to turn rear tires freely by hand. Also be sure the mfwd is disengaged.

3 pt hitch is ok, so are the brakes. I'm gonna drop the tractor off at the dealers this Sat. morning. I'll let you all know what happens.

FYI, the 2520's hyd pressure and everything else tested ok. The service dept mgr said that I was just running out of hyd power do to the steep grade and the distance I was attemping to go. I'm disappointed they didn't find something wrong. I wish my 2520 had a lower gear range. Oh well, that's life.

I have about 180 hrs on my 4110 it may just be me but it seems like it has more power on the ground now than it did at first. It will often spin 3 wheels on dry ground when doin fel work. I don't think it ever did that before about 100 hrs or so.

Thanks Oscer, I've got 60 hrs on the meter now. I'll keep running it and hope for the best.
