We sure could use a little good news today...

Yep, that's the Anne Murray song. You remember it. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anyway, things have been a little on the downer side here today... Nothing but bad news all day. Just when I think it's over, then the phone rings and it's something else. I just want this day to end, but I can't get to sleep. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

How 'bout some good news to share with us to show it's still exists?
Who wants to go first?

Ok, how about this.

Friday my special order hardware finally came in. I have been waiting for it for two months both as a fault of my own and theirs. The arrival means that I was able to start my patio cover.

or for something smaller...I firmly believe in looking anywhere for something good. Today the temperature was in the nineties. I was out in the sun building the patio cover and wishing I was working under a patio cover to build it. A thunderstorm blew up over the mountains and shaded out the sun for a couple hours. Then when I was good and tired I picked up my tools and came inside...at which point we got a nice dose of rain for the garden.

Even smaller?? My kegerator is sitting at 33 degrees and was quite appreciated while watching the rain.

or the biggest... This morning I woke up and found out I wasn't dreaming. I am still the father of three beautiful children and married to the greatest woman in the world.

ooooh, that brings up the very smallest...or largest, you decide. My inlaws won't be visiting until August. Not as good as say...June of 2020 but hey, beats the snot out of June 2005.

I hope that helps.

First the Bad News:
Last Friday afternoon my son and his friend were flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore because the Jeep Wrangler my son was riding in rolled twice. His friend ran off the road on a curve doing about 45-50 and over compensated getting it back on to the road. The driver was ejected, but my son who had his seat belt on remained inside the vehicle. My son had several cuts on his face and a deep cut on his cheek -- a broken nose and some road rash on his right arm and hand. His friend, the driver broke his left femur, right wrist and had two cracks in his spine. He had surgery on his back that night.

Now the Good News:
My son was treated and released and I am thankful he is still able to wake up each morning. His friend still remains in the hospital but is now able to sit up and looks to be on his way to a full recovery.

Holy Cow, the phone call all parents dread!! Glad they're on the mend, Jeep's aren't very forgiving in those situations.

You've got that right -- talk about a wave of terror coming over your body when you hear, "Your son was a passenger in an auto accident ..."

.
.

This thread though is about Good News, so to keep this thread on topic however, I must add: "But I've got good news, I just saved a ton of money on my auto insurance".

I had an old 76 CJ5.. I learned to always wear my seatbelt in that vehicle.. a good bump will launch you off your seat.

Never rolled it(we rolled a VW bug one time).. but always managed to get it stuck somewhere!

Glad your son is okay.. that is the best news!

I understand completely,my wife and I have 5 kids between us,17,16,15,13, the 2 oldest are my boys the 2 youngest are her boys then our youngest is our little 9 yr old girl.

I think if we can make it through the boys, all of them getting their license, plus just being boys,we can just about get through anything.

gets tough at times but we always make it through, althought my hair ain't the same color it was when we got married, not sure if that was from the boys or just getting older.
