I just went shopping on Home Depot's and TSC's web sites. As usual each selected my home store by ISP, but location? Today I had one for South of Chicago, and one for California when asking to 'use location access'. My AT&T Mobley usually puts me out there as if in Cincinnati, OH but I'm on a VPN recently and go out from central USA somewhere.
If I lose cookies or auto log-ins for visited sites (some browser restarts, etc) 'My Store' won't stick and my location goes coo-coo again.
Yes, it's hard to be secretive and there are so many ways we can be focused on, but I believe the gov't has too many bigger fish to fry and that most of us are lost in too big a crowd. Scammers and spammers are our threat.
WIMI all this commercial spying is just a step up from what sales junk fills our mailboxes. What info is gathered is to sort which, not whether we get what we get. IMO we're lost in another crowd otherwise. If we go to crazy places it may come back to haunt us, but if a neighbor was into kiddie **** or such I'd hope his web traffic would trigger something somewhere.
There are a lot of ways to be 'discreet'. Duck Duck Go, other browsers/extensions, VMs, VPNs, etc. Yeah, it's a jungle out there as they say, with internet
and phones. One just doesn't want to be a target of ...
