OK, I am sick, I like to wax my tractor to keep is as shinny as my cars. The problem on deere tractors is the radiator screen. How do you get the wax out of the radiator screen?? Should I just avoid getting wax on the screen or is there some type of liquid wax that will not leave that white paste in all of the little holes?

I wouldn't wax the screen. You could take it to a car wash and set the wand to spray wax, but I don't think that gets much waxing done anyway.

You could try some kind of wipe on protect-ant, but I think you'd end up with extra stuff stuck to the screen. Those tend to stay sort of wettish.

I wax my orange tractor. Well, its 2.5 years old and I've waxed it once. I wax it as much for protection as for looks since it lives outdoors. Just don't wax areas with too many nicks and crannies, you'll never get the dried wax out.

Since mine's a working tractor I wax it with a brown substance that the tires apply.

Hi Bob,

Try a soldering brush on your grill it will get the wax out. Jubilee (Sp?) kitchen wax or Pledge (Sp?) will do fine on the grille and black plastic surfaces including the metal frame and rear axle. The Deere dealer in Derry, NH had a 2520 inside that was waxed with Honda motorcycle wax and made that green paint shine better than any wax I have ever seen also it's excellent for Deere fiberglass as you won't get those fine swirl scratches with automotive wax. When you wash, use a good wash soap like KIT and follow it up with Eagle one Wax-As-You-Dry and you will be the envy of the neighborhood.

Doesent' waxing your tractor make it more slippery in the mud?

Hiya,

OK, I admit it, I waxed it once, after I washed off about a gallons worth of Diesel.

For black surfaces like the grill or any black trim part, s100 makes a product called "finish preserver" for maintaining the deep black look on Harley engines, frames and trim. I have a '91 and I can attest that it really does a super job on anything black. (fixed 15 years of fade on black krinkle finish instrument buckets in 20 seconds) It's sold at HD shops, not cheap at about 9 bucks for a small (3-4 Oz) spray can but a little bit goes a long way.
