Has anyone tried to install a second temp gauge with a readout while keeping the factory gauge in place?

I have looked at my D1305 and don't see a place to install another sending unit.

Is anything available to put in place by the radiator hose that would accommodate a sensor?

Interesting, where did you bolt it?
My LS had a bracket holding something near the firewall so I just used one of those bolts and routed the wire.
In my case the temp gauge in cluster will go crazy high (way past hot) or not move at all randomly. I'm guessing it is bad solder joint on the board since does it during self test randomly as well. The gauge I added is a sanity test, I know what range it should be 50-60C during hot operation and can keep an eye on it.
$30 vs $300 to replace the cluster seem an easy choice.
