yanmar ym2000
Hey guys, Happy New Year. I'm a frequent reader, but a first time poster, because I've never had a problem with my Yanmar 2000 until now.

The long and short of it is, I bought my tractor as a recon, ran it all year with absolutely no problems. Since I had put 78 hours on it, and was unsure of when the last coolant change was done, I drained and flushed my radiator. I put in a 50/50 mix. (I now know it should be 30/70) Everything was fine for a week or two, but now after it runs for 15 minutes it overheats. Water is boiling in the overflow tank. After letting it cool down, I start the tractor, and take the radiator cap off. I notice that the fluid is not flowing in the radiator...it is splashing/splattering up and out of the radiator. I'm thinking the flushing of the radiator caused some blockage, but what could be the culprit...the water pump or the radiator?

If all you did is change the coolant I would suspect an air lock or a collapsed hose. You say it was fine for a week or so, that might rule out an air lock. Bring the engine up to speed and check the radiator hoses to see if they may be collapsing at higher rpms. There also could be a chance the radiator flush knocked something loose but you would have seen a bunch of junk when you drained the coolant after flushing. Were there any chunks? Check to see if you have any water in the oil or vice versa. Could be the recon involved a cooling system repair that has now failed. Good luck.

My guess ( without doing a leak check on the cooling system) blown head gasket

Put some red food color in the radiator if it don't move fast the water pump is gone.

Does it have a thermostat.

check and see when its at operating temp if the radiator core is hot from top to bottem, if its cold at the bottem then your radiator has a restiction

on my 1610d I replaced all the hoses and flushed the rad. and block.I got it put back together and ran it for a while and noticed the overflow bottle had filled up,I also noticed bubbles. One of my brothers [correctly] said there was air in the system and said I should run it for a while to get the air out. seems to have worked.I could however see circulation of water in the rad. If your saying you don't see circulation ,could be your water pump.
