Water Pump new or aftermarket ?? opinion's--reviews ford 1710

Hey guy's hope I can get a few quick response's, my 1985 1710 diesel had waterpump start leaking yesterday, dealer want's $120. for his aftermarket pump, can get 1 on ebay for 65-80. has anyone had any problem's with cheap ebay pump's? pump on it look's original 30yrs (wow) don't need that good of pump, but don't care to do again within a few years, Thank's for any opinions.

I suspect the ebay pump and the dealer one come from the same place. A lot of this stuff comes from AI or Tisco. Look at he part numbers offered you'll start to see a pattern. Unless the pump is coming from CNH I doubt there is much difference and even then who knows.

The water pump gave out on my Ford 1600, so I got an aftermarket unit. About 9 years and no issues yet. If it fell apart tomorrow, it was money well spent. And I bet the 1600 and 1710 take the same water pump.

Geez went in garage and pulled hood off, let tractor run for 20-25 minutes and not a drip, I'll do it again tomorrow.

If you remove the fan belt, you can grab the water pump by the drive pulley and see it if wobbles. Mine failed that test.

I bought online, great price, don't remember seller but a high volume store, don't know origin, works fine for me, different hp tractor.

Texas, thanks I did same, got pump-but they didn't ship O-ring with it, so should get ring Monday and will replace Tuesday.
