Hello-

I had water get in my transmission through the shifter so I pulled all the transmission plugs and let my tractor drain for several hours. I made sure the 3-point was down too. When there was no more oil dripping out I filled it back up with tractor fluid.

Since my lawnmower broke and I don't have a mower for the Yanmar I decided to use my tandem disc to "mow" the 4 foot tall "lawn":D The tractor got nice and warmed up. I checked the transmission fluid when I was done and it was a bit milky, but not even close to what it was.

Will the water eventually evaporate through the vent or do I need to do another drain and fill? I'm not too worried about it, but since this is the first tractor I have had that is somewhat modern I thought I better ask the experts.

Thanks!!

I'm afraid it will probably take one additional hydraulic service to eliminate the last of the water contamination.

The hydraulic system doesn't produce enough heat to burn off the moisture in your tractor. Some have drained their system and left the contents in a five gallong pail for a few days. This allows the oil to float ontop of any water....I've never done this so I can't comment that it's 100% effective.

I agree with Mark on changing the oil again. BTW the shifter boot, both the old style and the new style are still available from Yanmar.
