yep.. pseudophrene HCL used to be commonly available OTC as a decongestant. Now it's only available as a limited amount per month.. etc. because of idiots making meth out of it. The stuff they replaced it with: phenylephrine is not as good.. and barely works on me.

Thus, during the summer months, I buy my max monthly alotment just so i can make it thru the winter months when i'm more prone to nasal congestion. The amount they let you buy of the 'real' stuff is simply ridiculess. The box has about enough meds to get you thru 1-week of a cold.. if you take as directed. Sure hope you don't have one that lasts 10 days.. or that you don't get a re-occurence and get sick again.. after yuo used up your 1 month alottment...

Seems to me that rather than limiting the law abiding citizens.. they need to round up all the druggies and.. uh.. hang them or something.. wouldn't bother me at all..

You've said a mouthful Soundguy!! The rest of us regular citizens can't get the OTC meds we were taking, in the amount we need, because of these dope heads. Just another example of the tail wagging the dog!! Some Politicans kid must have OD'd on the stuff Now you and I are treated like 6 year old kids by our state governments for doing absolutely nothing wrong or illegal, but they put us in a position where IF we try to buy what we need, we could be suspects!

They changed the Tylenol Sinus formula as you've indicated too and the new stuff isn't near as good, if and when it works at all.

I agree, the stuff they said I could take for cold/allergies isn't as effective. The doctor didn't want me to use the effective stuff due to some adverse reaction possibilities with the BP meds.

:) Yeah, I used to be one of those people,. too. The ones who say, "I'll never take any pills, this society is over-medicated", and that is true. BUT, life happens, ya know? And if you need medications and don't take them, you're careless and stupid, and it shows you don't care much about your family. Somebody may say, "I provide for my family, I work, I scrimp and save, why, I'd take a bullet for my wife and kids!" But would you take the pills you need every day?
Like the Pink Floyd song, "And then one day you find/Ten years have got behind you/No one told you when to run/ You missed the starting gun"...
Refusing to go to the doctor, or to take needed medicine doesn't make you more of a man. You are here, now -- deal with it.

Take your blood pressure medicine, but watch out what cold meds you take!
If you take BP medication.
You have to be careful about taking any kind of medications cold meds or other prescribed or over the counter.
Certain medications can conflict with BP meds.
Others can neutralize the BP medication and render the BP Meds ineffective.
I've had to watch this closely ever since I started taking BP pills back in 1989.
There is cold and sinus over the counter medication available for folks with HB.
Ask your or any pharmacist.

What are you to do? Take more time off from work to go see them and pay another office visit to ask a simple question? They !#$&* sure don't talk over the phone!

This is why we call a couple of pharmacist when we have a question about a medication.
They will talk to you answer your questions it's all free and actually a pharmacist knows as much or more about a medication than does a doctor.

It is ridiculous how the medical offices work. They always say check with doctor before taking other medications. What are you to do? Take more time off from work to go see them and pay another office visit to ask a simple question? They !#$&* sure don't talk over the phone!

I don't spend time on the phone with patients because I'm SEEING patients. I've always thought it was funny that people seem to think that talking on the phone with their doctor is something they are entitled to for free. Try that with a lawyer. Try it with a busy auto mechanic.

The more time I spend on the phone, the less time I have to see patients who want and need to be seen. That is where my priority lies.

And for anyone who thinks that is somehow greedy, just think about anyone whose work is based on productivity and how willing they would be to cut productivity to talk on the phone. Try calling your plumber and ask him to spend 10 minutes on the phone advising you how to unclog your sink.

I've always thought it might be nice to have the option of a 'call-in' visit / consultation for some things.

( I've done this with a lawyer.. IE.. called them.. gotten advice.. paid a fee with my credit card)

I agree, that for many things.. the healthcare provider needs to see you.. however.. some things... maybee not. like refilling a routine prescription that you take all year.. for instanc.. my alergy meds.. like alegra. If no other medical issues 9 that I'm aware of ) have come up.. This looks like a prime area for a 'micro' call in visit, perhaps a reduced fee vs the office visit fee.. etc.

Just kicking out the idea..
