Pushing it too hard with the tractor, before the hinge was thin enough, probably caused the barberchair.

Don't let THIS happen to you! Watching a 16 minute video of blah, blah, blah, watch me pet the chickens, blah, blah, blah, make a notch, blah, blah, blah, watch a mini-ex push a tree, blah, blah, blah. Don't push on trees with a tractor.

He could have said what he needed to say in less than 5 minutes tops.

Not sure I want to watch the video but if it involves making saw cuts and then pushing a tree over, well, that is a tricky business and very few people understand the mechanics. Barber chair can happen under any circumstance where you create a shear load in the grain and it can be from gravity, pushing, roping, you name it.

Me, if I have to do something like this, it will involve a 200' bull rope and pulleys so that the people/tractor are nowhere nearby. The last time I had to do this was when a tree leaned over onto a neighbor's house. We roped the tree and setup a pulley so that the tractor was out of the way and pulling in the opposite direction. Made a strategic cut on the tree and then pulled it away from the house and onto the ground.

The other benefit of a rope is that you can get it up high (as high as your ladder can reach, or in our case, from the roof of the house). That is generally 2X-4X the height a tractor or mini-ex can reach to, so the lever arm is much much more effective.

Yeah... I just lost 15 minutes waiting for "Don't let this happen" and it never came. This dude used to have a Kubota and somewhat cool video's, now it's just a Rural King channel....

Yeah. That is the last thing a FEL was designed for.

I have seen trees fall on the engine house of a large excavator. The owner was not impressed with his operator.

I think, if you make a habit of pushing over trees, you WILL eventually have an acident.
