Warranty Question

Sorry, I quoted the 1 year bumper to bumper warranty. It's the same for the 3 year powertrain. Basically it's saying that the tractor is warrantied from the date of original sale regardless if you are the original owner or not. If the dealer you take it to is not the one who sold the unit it may take them a minute to figure out your retail date and everything unless you have the original warranty paperwork.
I think it's funny how my original selling dealer used those exact same words (i.e., original retail sale to/original use by... the purchaser) and the following quote defining Mahindra's sole obligation under the warranty to convince me, as not his purchaser, that I was not covered:

"The obligation of Mahindra to the purchaser under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of parts by an authorized Mahindra Dealer."

But the bottom line is that if Mahindra is now telling you that there is transferability to subsequent owners, that is great news! They really ought to make that transferability less of a secret and more of a selling point as it adds big value to applicable units in the used market. The very fact that you as an experienced dealer had to call them to confirm this speaks volumes about its lack of general exposure.

Now the only question I've got... Did this transferability apply to 2004 production year tractors purchased in 2005? :D

Okay, here's the low down. I've called several sources at Mahindra to make 100% sure I'm not giving anyone the wrong answer.

Yes, all Mahindra tractors have a transferable warranty from the original date of purchase. The 15 Series previously were not transferable but starting several months ago they have changed it where they are also transferable.

One thing I would be careful about if purchasing a used 15 series tractor and assuming that the warranty is transferable is if the original purchaser was using it commercially or not and if the warranty form when purchased reflects that it was marked "Commercial". IF it was marked commercial it has a powertrain warranty of only 1 year from the date of original purchase. All other models have the full 3 year powertrain warranty regardless if they are commercial or not.

WOW!!! That is great news. :) Guess I've got a powertrain warranty for the rest of this year that I never knew I had! :) Thanks for researching this!!!

Dougster, please see what I added to my post about the 15 series. I think you posted right at the same time I edited my post. I don't think it will affect you though since you have a 10 series.

Understood. I should not be affected. :)

Thanks RedRiver and Dougster for thrashing this out. I agree with Dougster that this information should be a selling point for Mahindra to improve the resale value of their tractors. :)
