Thank you for the input and views, I have never worried much about this myself and have had several major hydraulic warranty claims in the past on new tractors with no issues from the dealer. I just wanted others opinions on the issue he brought to me. However in this world of Passing the buck, it would not surprise me if this did not become a future issue at dealers or manufacturers for anyone using machines that used other hydro equipment that attach to the machines. Just another way out of paying and getting the customers money.

I try to use common sense as my guide in life...would I add some unknown hydraulic fluid to my tractor to top it up slightly? Answer is absolutely not.

So in my case I would flush the cylinders/lines with the same stuff that is in my tractor. No brainer to me, especially if I owned the old equipment and it would be a one time deal. Would a minuscule amount of the mystery fluid remain. Sure, but very little. If I were **** about it I would flush twice.

I would do this not because I was worried about warranty issues. I would do it even if my tractor had no warranty.

But when greasing my stuff I do not seem to worry too much about mixing grease...so go figure...

My cousin and I have some pieces of equipment we share - his JD, my Kubota. One has 8 cylinders. Like change cylinders? Not going to happen. We get some mixing but keep our tractors maintained with the oil specified by JD and Kubota. One concern is my Kubota M7 has a special UDT-HD. Used only on the M7. When I blew a suspension hose, I called dealer and asked to deliver a 5 gallon pail ASAP. I specified the oil and the tractor it was going in. When the oil showed up the next day they had sent Super UDT2. Not compatible. Had to use it - can’t sit idle. Most oils I find say they meet Kubota UDT spec. We have so many tractors around we cannot isolate. By the way, Cat used to use New Holland axles in backhoe loaders and added MTO oil to meet New Holland’s requirement. MTO is Mobilfluid 424 and Mobilfluid 424’s specs say they are compatible with about anything.

Dealers will look for ANY reason to refuse your claim ( ALL dealers included in this) so I wouldnt even think about hooking up to unknown stuff ----- get your own cylinders if possible.

Dealers don’t make that call. OEMs do. We do the work and submit the claim. The OEMs accept or reject the claim. It not uncommon for us to have to submit a claim more than once to get approved. If dealers made the call, NO warranty claim would be denied! Scratched hood? No problem I’ll give you a new one. Warranty will pay me for it. Flat tire? We’ll get you 4 new ones! More often than not, we choke on uncovered warranty claim because we believe the OEM is wrong in denying YOUR claim. If look look at your warranty statement, your dealer’s name is not mentioned. It’s a contract between you and the OEM. We’re just in the middle doing the work (like a subcontractor).

That being said, at a minimum, I’d flush the fluid out of the attachment.
