Warning lights on a 1602D

Hi there,
I have a grid of four warning lights on my tractor.
The top left light came on while mowing, so i shut it down.

Any ideas?

Not familiar with a 1602 dash but on my 2002d the top left light is a battery water level light which has had wires hooked together to turn it off. If that is what your top left light is I would suspect your wires have come apart somewhere. May be another light for all I know. Do you not know what the light indicates?

I haven't traced the wires yet, I was tired, so I shut it off and posted.

I'll take a look later this afternoon.

I let it sit all afternoon, and when I turned the key the light was off.

It was 95*F and I wonder if it was temperature related.

I guess I need to take the dash off to follow the wires....

Every Yanmar I have seen has a universal symbol indicating what the light is.

I think I see what you mean On my trouble lights. Say for instince Water temp sender you can remove and ground out the wire and the light comes on.The oil should come and go out when the pressure comes up on a cold start up. Sould be able to do the same. Get a volt meter and check that you are chargeing So you won't have to worry about that one. and the last or forth ??? Creeper gear just a guess maybe Low fuel.

It is the overflow tank indicator light. Pour 2-3 ounces of antifreeze in there.

So one confirmed vote for batery water level and one for collant overflow bottle level. Which is it?

If there's no coolant in the overflow bottle then you add coolant to the line and the light stays off then I would say that's what it's for.Like others have said most of the lights have symbols so I 'm only guessing. russ

The battery light is on top. Overflow indicator light is bottom left. Neither indicates the engine overheating.

I haven't taken the dash apart to trace the wires, but when the tractor was cool, the light remained off.

There is wiring near the overflow (the bottle was/is at the low end, but contains fluid).

I'm not sure what effect temperature would have on the battery water level indicator. If it is hooked up, what is it attached to?

There is a sensor in the bottle and when it gets exposed to air it tells your light to come on. It will come on before bottle gets completely empty. The principle it works on is as the engine heats and coolant expands sometimes coolant will be pushed into the bottle. When system cools and coolant contracts sometimes coolant will be pulled out of the bottle and back in the radiator. Coolant temperature has nothing to do with the bottle sensor other than causing coolant to go in and out of the bottle. It is strictly a level sensor.

No wonder the fourth light threw me.Almost never would have thought they put a sensor for that. I guess I'm just to Old School. I always check my fluids before use Esp. if it's sat for a few days. The over flo bottle was like a old timey temp gauge. I always looked at the low water mark to make sure it's at or just above the add line and look at how high or how much is in it when hot. You can usally look to see much is in it and gives you a good idea of how hot it is running.
