WARNING!! home depot shoppers

We purchased some items on a will call and went to pick them up today and I was told it is not in their system? I'm talking almost $1,000 dollars and all I got from the Mcmanager was a 800 number to call?
Be careful. I had my papers in order.

We just finsihed a major kitchen remodel with cabinets, counter tops, installation, etc. coordinated with our builder for other work. All went flawlessly. Home Depot came out to measure, then again when the cabinets arrived and inspected each and every one, replacing two doors with flaws I couldn't even see. The installer was top-notch and arrived exactly when promised.

All in all, I'm a happy Home Depot customer. Just another data point.

Usually only those getting poor service complain on line or elsewhere. For every complainer there are literally thousands of hundreds or thousands that get good or great service and never make mention of it.

Name me one, just one, company that doesn't have a problem every now and then.

If their is a reason to complain then you should complain. We are consumers and it is our right to complain and deemed appropriate. All have their moments but these are the leaders in their industry and time and time again, their customer service absolutely sucks in these parts. I remember when Lowes was a local hardware store and customer service meant something. They are no better than Home Depot these days. I have dealt with many that dont have a problem most of the time.

BTW, when we built our house 3 years ago, the freakin employees would ask my wife and I where items were located in the store. It was ridiculous. The bigger the chain, the worse their customer service is.

That should be "wife and me" -- you're right, I guess we should complain more often.

Each store is different. For me, I drive a few miles further down the road to reach a different Home Depot. The closest is generally messy and the employees are not really on top of things. The more distant store must have a better manager - because it "works" like it should.

Just like WalMart - some are ghetto marts and others are good stores.

What did the mangler say had happened to the paper work?

Did you pay by credit card so you have a record of the bill? Cashed check?

We bought at least 10K worth of stuff from HD when we built our house and it was a smooth process. No complaints at all. We delt with quite a few employees and had pretty good service from them. They actually told us to go to Lowes for some things since HD did not have what we wanted.

From watching what the employees had to do with the will call I would be shocked if the paper work can "disappear". I would think only a few people could cancel the order and one of them would be the mangler.

What happened with the 800 number?

After that, depending on what the store manager said, I would try his boss.
