boy am i in a pickle! (and losing sleep over this)

I put 30 hours on my B7610 and have decided that it is too small for my needs. The B7610 has done an amazing job with all of my chores, but it seems that the more jobs i finish, bigger and HEAVIER jobs pop up. Jobs include, clearing brush, grading driveways, and mowing. Would like to move to the new B2630.

My questions are: has anyone been in this situation? what are your recomendations, stay with the B7610 or cut the loses and upgrade? The B7610, 60"MMM, and 352 loader came to 15,200. What can i expect to get on a trade? (just installed a toothbar, and the tractor looks better than when it was delivered)

Thanks in advance!

That's barely a move up!!
I have a 2410 and in discussing a potential upgrade in the future with my local dealer, they indicated that they planned to stock 7610s and 3030s. The 2630 was too much of a minor step in between and the price differential to a 3030 made it unlikely they would sell many 2630s.
You might try selling your 7610 privately. If you get a decent bite, you would be a cash buyer for the new model.

I would suggest you talk to your dealer and see what he has to offer. Hard to know what the hit will be until you ask.

You must be considering an L series I suppose. Probably not worth changing just to step up to the largest B series tractor.

If you need a larger tractor and the cost is not too great to get there, it is probably worth doing. All depends on your needs...it is worth standing back doing a second evaluation of what those needs really are, as compared to wants... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You certainly won't be the first to buy something and then find out you need/want something bigger...

Edit: I just read your post again...I would not take the small step you are considering...I believe the B7610 is just one frame size smaller than the B7800/3030. If it were me I would keep the 7610 or decide I really need an L series... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

you're right Peter.

it'll depend on how much i can get for my 7610. The differences between the 7610 and the 2630 are exactly what i am looking for: wider front, loader stability / capacities, rear remotes, and most importantly the third speed range.

thanks again.

idon't know what you can expect on trade, think you might be better off selling privately. But are you really sure you need a bigger tractor? If the 7610 is good for 90% of your jobs then it should be just right for you. AT one time or another WE all wish we had a bigger tractor.

Frank and Henro,

you guys are right, maybe i should put some more hours on her before i do something crazy. But i'll still investigate the L series with my dealer.

Thanks

If you were closer to my location I would take that 7610 off your hands. That's exactly what I'm looking for. How much would you be selling it for?

I have a B7510. Sometimes I wish I had a larger tractor but then sanity returns and I realize that the 7510 does everything I ask it to do. Sometimes it takes a little longer than it would if I had a larger bucket on the FEL or could pull a wider box blade but it is a hobby for me so why be in a big hurry?

I thought about getting a backhoe but looked at the reality of how much I would really use it and found that I can rent one or hire a backhoe and operator for a reasonable rate for the few times I need it. I would have to spend $5K for a backhoe and I doubt that I will spend more than $1K for backhoe/operator for my chores.

30 hours is not much time on a tractor. Is there something you can do that will make the 7610 more usable for you, such as filling the tires? I filled the rear tires on the 7510 and it increased the traction a lot which speeds up my chores.

Chuck, i figured 14,000 would be resonable.
Bill, i am going to experiment with the ballast on my tractor.

I noticed that if i lock the 3pt speed/lockout knob the loader's performance was hindered...? i started another thread on this in operating board.

thanks for replies.

I'll agree that if you expect a significant performance improvement, you should really be considering a L series tractor. My brother just traded his B2400 for a Case-IH DX 33. He considered a B7800, but we did not see any major difference in FEL performance from the B2400.
