Want a bigger tractor. M5-091 too big?

We plan to buy M5091 so I would like to ask you if there were any problems with your tractor? Is there anything I should pay special attention to? Can you please take a picture down below right door of your tractor, I'm interested on how a loader valve is connected to the tractor hydraulics. Thank you very much

I know it's a silly question to start out. I currently have an L4600 with a loader. I mow with a 6' land pride RCR1872. I'd like to get a tractor with a cab and AC and more HP to mow with a 12' batwing. I'm tired of mowing 6' at a time and baking in the sun. I like the M7060 but the next size up has a lot more to offer. 90hp engine vs 70, bigger cab, buddy seat, heavier, better trans, etc. however I'm wondering if its way overkill for a 12' mower. I do have some hills on my land. The L4600 handles the 6' no sweat. Also like the HST for mowing and is nice on hills. I guess there is no perfect tractor out there. So to sum this up I want a cab, AC and ability to easily handle a 12' mower. M5? M7060? L60 Grand?

I faced a similar dilemma 2 1/2 years or so ago.

I was shopping for a ROPS M7060 TO REPLACE A 60 PTO HP MF for use mostly with a 7' or 8' three point mounted rotary cutter. I do not use cab tractors due to the need to drive near and beneath trees.

I liked the M7060 but thought the M9960 was a better deal even though larger than I needed so I bought one.

Unfortunately, the power shifting 24 speed transmission is not available in the ROPS model. I would have paid the difference if it had been.

I bought EPTO to avoid the need to operate the engine at rated speed simply to maintain 540 PTO RPM when loafing along with a 7' mower (soon to be replaced with a BW), wasting fuel and rolling up hours (revolutions) in the process. 540 PTO RPM is about 1,600 engine RPM.

The 6X2 synchronized transmission results in much reduced need to stop and change ranges, though such still is necessary from time to time. The 24 speed PS Hi/Lo transmission would likely have eliminated this need entirely. Stopping to change between L/4th and H/1st was common with the MF.

I only have 12 hours on mine but no issues so far and I am really happy with mine. I'll get you a picture of what I think your asking for later today.

Thanks alot. Well I was actually wondering if this U shaped hose is the connection between tractor pump and loader valve..? Took this picture on a fair where they had M5 on display.

I was on the fence between the M7060 with 12' wing mower and M5111 with 15' wing mower. Afer lots of comparing, I decided to go with the M7060.

Now that I've got some time in it, I'm very pleased with my decision. The M7060 feels big compared to our L5740. I can't imagine how big the M5111 would have felt. It is somewhat intimidating at first. The wing mower takes some getting used to. If I had gone with the 15' it would be more difficult for most of our mowing. Only real advantage would be when cutting the big fields. We only do this 2x/year as the CRP won't allow cutting from April 1 - July 15.

My dealer recommended I get the wing mower plumbed so that each wing is operated independently. This requires three remotes. On the first cutting I understood his wisdom. I can lift one wing to miss a culvert, keep it out of the pond and even miss suspected (or real) obstacles.

I have the same setup except wings move together. So far so good.
