I think, as mentioned by others, that things are just changing and not necessarily for the better.
There was a movie out in the early 80's starring Walter Matthau and Ned Beatty as CIA agents. It was called Hopscotch. Walter Matthau quits the agency and writes a tell all book. It is a comedy.
Someone found a copy and gave it to us this past Christmas. Watched it and enjoyed it thoroughly. No actual killings, no nude scenes and no ***. Ned Beatty's character says the "F" word a dozen times. Imagine my surprise, when I put the movie back in it's case to see it had an "R" rating. Wow. Probably get a PG today. Yet 20 years ago profanity alone resulted in an "R" rating.
