Hey folks - I think I"ve about worn out our Toro Recycler (Home Depot Origin) mower. I'm curious if you have any information about walk-behinds that are bigger than the typical 21" deck. I went to the Deere shop... they had several nice mowers, but nothing in between 21" and the big commercial size walk-behinds. I'm really not prepared to spend $1000 on a mower, if I did I'd just spend the extra $$ and get something with a seat and a cup holder /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. So any advice and direction is appreciated!

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
From what I've seen, any walk-behind (Deere, Ferris, Exmark, etc.) over the typical 21" is going to be well over one grand new. Even something in the 32"-36" range used is tough to find in good shape for less than a thousand. Might keep you're eyes open with grass-cutting season winding down, maybe luck across someone ready to get out of business or other. Good Luck !

P.S. Is this similar to what you'd like ?

That is getting near where I'd like to be. I've never seen anything within that gap that you've mentioned. I'd be interested to find something in the 26 to 30" range.

I wonder if any manufacturers ever tried it and found that the residential market wasn't interested.

Thanks for the reply!

Thanks again - I've added that to my "watch list" on ebay. I'm following this one as well. I think this looks like one nice old rider.

That does look like a nice 110. Hey, it's even in your part of the country too ! I don't think I've ever seen anything between the 21"-22" typical push mower and the smaller 32" commercial-type walk behinds with exception of possibly a older reel-type pusher - maybe 28"-30". That's not to say there is'nt somebody making something nowdays though - and these TBNers are the folks that will find it !

Sears sold a 26" mower at one time, don't know if it still offered or not. $1000 should pick up a decent used 36" walk behind, if you can find one.

Hi...

Troy-Bilt (MTD owned now) makes a 33"er... ~$1,400 list...

I had an older wide cut (~30") Troy-Bilt I bought used... seemed like a solid mower... was fairly/pretty good...

If the Homier tool sales ever make it your way, they have a 26 inch mower with a 6.5 hp B & S engine for $249.99.
Heck, it's almost worth that much for the Briggs and Stratton engine.
