Boxed in under the stairs. Building was inspected and we can start filling it up. Final inspection when grading and house are completed.

They used something different than the 30# felt quoted. It seems like a very good product.

Since the pad is now over 30 days old and we kept all the weight off, I felt it was cured enough for my lifts.
Left Richmond at 3 AM, went to Delaware, drove home and got back at 2:30 Saturday. Nice little 11 - 12 hour trip.

A total of about 6000# for 3 lifts. 2 9000# and one 9000# that is an extended height and length. It has over 7' of head space.

We had to unload and even with the front end loader it was a job. Lots of pieces were carried by hand. Because the garage doors are going to be installed this week, we had to kind of stage 2 of the lifts until the doors are up.
Once they are finished I can roll them into place.

Went by the house today and the electrician has installed my outside meter panel, transfer panel and two disconnects if I am figuring out things right. The inside has electrical rough in with 2 200 Amp panels. The HVAC has been started. Plumbing should be started this week as well. Meeting with the builder and electrician to finalize some details for 16KW generator. For an 1800' house this should be about all I need.

Great seeing the roofing installed. Nothing like knowing everything will be dry inside the next time it rains!!!!

You do things a bit different then we do down here. Flashing is a huge thing for us around the edges of the roof. We also put something over the edge of faisca on top of the pine to protect it. Hardie is my favorite, but sometimes people like cedar or even PVC. We do it before the shingles go on so the flashing goes over the fascia and then the shingles go over the flashing.

Is this a better example?

I believe Eddie is referring to flashing under the tar paper and over the fascia board to ensure no water is exposed to the fascia or bottom area of your roofing. See blue arrow point to possible water exposure/rot point, then red line simulating a bent metal piece that is usually installed in my area. Other areas use other forms, but ours are usually done with trim coil bent to flash this area before the gutters are installed, then additionally, the first row of shingles are usually extended a little to ensure water goes into gutter and not behind it, but if it gets behind it, the wood is protected by the flashing.

Not sure what you mean? There are several place prone to lean on a roof. The vents and in the valleys. Valleys get 2 to 4 times as much water in them as the rest of the roof, so you always have to increase the amount of protection you put there. Here, they use Grace Weathershield on top of the paper. Before that came along, metal was the best way to deal with all the water that comes down the valley.

I'm not being critical, I do this for a living and it's both interesting to me how things are done in other areas, and I also like to offer suggestions when I see things that make me wonder if they are done the best way possible. I know up North that wood rot isn't as big of an issue as it is down here. You just paint the fascia and it lasts as long as the paint lasts, and in some cases it goes decades after the paint has peeled off and it's still sound. Here, you have to cover the fascia with something, and then you want the flashing and shingles to go over the top edge of the fascia to keep water from getting behind it. Even if you use gutters, there is water that gets behind them that leads to rot. And of course, the gable ends do not get gutters, so they are always exposed.
